Expertise You Can Trust

Ecolab’s in-house R&D team of entomologists, biologists, engineers and chemists actively studies bed bugs and other pests to develop science-based solutions delivered by expert service specialists.

  • 1,000 bed bugs reared per week for lab testing
  • More than 1,500 Service Specialists specifically trained to eliminate bed bugs through industry leading science
  • More than 500,000 guest rooms treated for bed bugs

Ecolab research shows it is critical to examine your bed bug treatment protocol. A single treatment may miss bed bugs that are hiding in hard-to-reach places, or nymphs that emerge after treatment. Multiple treatments target even the most elusive bed bugs, and all life stages.

Single treatments may miss bed bugs

Program efficacy can be jeopardized if critical treatment steps are missed in an infested room. This graph shows the predicted effect on a bed bug population if only one treatment is completed.

Multi-treatments are more effective

The recommended, multi-treatment protocol is modeled to be the most effective solution for controlling bed bug populations.

Don’t forget about adjacent rooms

Bed bugs like to hide in small cracks and crevices, and can easily migrate through wall and ceiling joints from one room to another. Additionally, housekeeping staff and their equipment can be “carriers” between infested and non-infested rooms.

All adjacent rooms (above, below and to the sides) should be inspected in addition to the infested room.
